How it all started?? The story behind the origin of the blog

When I was 10-13 years, I wondered why there are different subjects? Why study them all? Why can't I study only my favorite subject? This is a very common question that almost all of us have had. In the process of hunting for an answer, I asked my parents and teachers. According to them, classification of a big subject into tiny pieces makes it easy to study and understand concepts in depth. In fact this is the rationale behind classification. Though I was partially convinced with this answer, I knew that links that connect these subjects are crucial for a better understanding of what most humans are questing for; understanding ourselves and our surroundings.

Out of the basic science subjects, my favorite is Biology and Mathematics (though I have a basic understanding of both). I have had very long arguments with the people from other disciplines on how Biology and Mathematics are more important than the other subjects like physics and chemistry. On pursuing higher studies in engineering biotechnology and a part of masters in science in human disease genetics I started to realize the importance of the links.

On studying few such links, I am  curious to read more about the links starting from the basics. So, this is the main content of the blog. That is how biological sciences are related to the other three domains, physics, chemistry and mathematics. Starting with a cell, where it is studied from different dimensions. Like its organization, components, functions, types, evolution, techniques to study a cell and how a cell can be simulated in a computer!!!! and so on....

I am welcome for suggestions on the content and the style of writing. Also, the topics for upcoming articles can be suggested.

  1. Sharing our experiences will help the people to avoid reinventing wheel. Links between the subjects in our education system is difficult to trace because we assume that I am more important than other or my subject is superior. In the process of providing proof for our beliefs, we will lose track of the links between subjects. Good Effort ...Keep going..

  2. Importance of basic sciences is not just to understand science subjects but it cuts across all other fields like commerce, arts etc. When we try to understand any subject in depth mathematics and other basic sciences become important and ultimately it could be philosophical also. Try suggesting some good basic science books for people related to commerce , arts. Keep going

  3. I’m glad that you started blogging !

Being at the intersection of Engineering & Life Sciences, you have studied both streams closely. That juxtaposition of science & technology gives you an edge to bring topics in a different light.

    This Blog can be for
    - fundamentals of sciences
    - how they are interrelated
    - how they translate to real life
    - what are you opinions

Wishing this blog be a great source of knowledge & opinions. Can’t wait to see more!
